Post 0 – I have a blog!

So… alas.
It has happened. I have a blog. (Dramatic faint with the hand on the forehead…)
To be honest, I didn’t think this would happen. Like ever. A blog? It’s kind of pretentious, right? Isn’t the Internet already overflowing with content? Who would care to read my words anyways? (Hello Grandma!)

But hey, prejudices are made to be challenged, right? I still have mixed feelings about putting things about your life out there for everyone to read. It is such a difficult balance, either you’re only posting the highlights contributing to an unhealthy environment where people compare themselves to everyone else, feel bad and forget to live their own life. Or, you’re simply oversharing, just adding to the noise that seems to claim more and more of the space and time available.

Do I have an idea on how to walk this tightrope? Nope. Not yet. Maybe never. But I’ll give it my best try and see this as a learning experience. Setting up a website, figuring out templates, headers, fonts etcetera is a fun little project in itself. I have no aspirations of millions of readers, and I am very happy to  have you take a little time out of your day to read this.

Having kind of a parallel life with different parts of my life being in either Swedish or English, I figured my website had to be the same. Sometimes things will be the same in both languages, sometimes not. Sometimes there might be lots of photos and few words, other times it might be the opposite.

I’ll try to write about my experiences as an exchange student at University of California San Diego, cultural differences, highs and lows and share a “lagom” amount of things. Comments are welcome, you know where to find me, and again – thank you for reading.
